#1000Speak - Accepting and Moving On

If you haven't read about #1000Speak before, check out these posts...
If you have, then you may know that this month's topic is acceptance.

This morning, I delved into my Gran's diaries.  More on that to come next Monday.  But for today, I think digging through a couple of them has actually given me a bit of perspective.  It's shown me that I was not compassionate - and perhaps I needed to be.

#1000Speak for Charleston, Ferguson and Paris...

The theme for this month’s #1000Speak for Compassion post is simply that “compassion”.  I feel like it should be a simple thing.  Compassion. It should be something that we all inherently have as a part of us when we’re born. Something that we feel towards others.  That we don’t have to nurture.  That just exists.

The sad truth is – the world doesn’t work that way. Compassion isn’t automatic.  Although we’re all human, we don’t all have empathy towards our fellow humans. The news, the internet, even just going for a walk outside – you can see people everywhere who seem to lack empathy for others.

#1000Speak - Re-connecting with Yourself

The past few weeks you may have noticed that my posts have gotten a little deeper.  I've been trying to reconnect and re-engage myself in several ways - especially related to my divorce.  It's very difficult sometimes as my co-parenting relationship continues to be maddening.  Although I don't appreciate the stereotype - it is true that my Irish temper is easily inflamed - especially after years of putting up with the same issues over and over.

Be compassion. Feel compassion. Live compassion. #1000Speak

As I've been leading up to it for the past couple of weeks, I’ll point you again to my “Compassion is a Verb” piece – leading up to today’s overwhelming examples of human compassion on over 1000 blogger’s sites as part of the #1000Speak campaign started as a result of an impassioned post by Lizzi Rogers last month.

Compassion is a Verb

As a writer, I'm very familiar with the ins and the outs of the language.  If you're a writer too, you might be reading the title of my blog thinking, no it's not - compassion is a noun.  It's a feeling.  It's not something you do.

I'm here to tell you otherwise.

A verb is an active word.  It's something that you do.  It's something that you're a part of.
Let me tell you about a little movement that I'm a part of - a movement that I'd like you to join.
