My Indoor Skydiving Adventure

Flower and I went to do our indoor skydiving last weekend.  And for the most part, it was pretty fantastic.  Flower had a ball.

I'll admit, in my younger years, I always wanted to go skydiving, but the opportunity never came up - and I never pursued it.

This was definitely my shot in a controlled environment to see how I'd do.

As it turns out...not so well.

The place is set up so you do short bursts of one minute each to get used to it - and then another two minutes at the end.  An instructor is in the tunnel with you to assist you getting your body in the right position.

The first two minutes, I actually did quite well.  I think short bursts is probably the right way to go about it.  I was laughing and having a ton of fun.  It is a bit of a trick to figure out exactly how to center your weight and get your hands in the right position to get a "lift".

About a minute into my final two minutes though...I felt as though a giant weight had been placed on my back.  My body gave out and decided I was finished.  I made it through the last minute, but barely.  My sides ached for a couple of days afterwards.

I'm not unhappy I did it.  Flower had a great time - and really, up to that last minute, I did too.  I can't say I'll be lining up for another try though.

I'm not down for the count though.  Next time ziplining.  Or white water rafting.  Or something else.
